Bonnie Virginia Scott

Bonnie Virginia Scott, 87 of Springboro, Ohio, went to be with her heavenly Father on Sunday, June 15, 2025. She passed peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family.

Bonnie was born in the mountains of Kentucky in McCreary County on May 25, 1938, to Melton and Rose Brown. Bonnie, a coal miner's daughter, grew up on the family farm where her parents instilled a strong work ethic. She learned to love and follow the Lord from an early age.

Bonnie was devoted to her family (1st Timothy 5:8). Her home was always open to anyone in need. She would say there is always room, even if she had to make a bed out of a pile of coats in the corner.

While in her 20's, Bonnie saw Billy Graham on TV. Moved by what she heard, she gave her life to the Lord. Bonnie joined First Baptist Church of Springboro. She participated in Eastern Star. Bonnie enjoyed being a cashier for Stumps grocery store. She enjoyed sewing, gardening, and playing games with her grandchildren and family. Bonnie always had a treasured dog in her lap.

Bonnie was considered a second mother by several people. Many people can say Bonnie shaped them into who they are today.

Bonnie is preceded in death by her loving husband of 65 years, Bill F. Scott; her parents, Melton and Rose Brown; siblings, Lindul Brown, Auldin Brown, Little Sister, Christine Rains, and George Brown.

She is survived by her sister, Thelma Reaves (Carl); daughters, Senita Scott and Michelle Goode (Tim); "adopted" son, Shawn Rains (Kendra); grandchildren, Melissa Rizer (Tyler), Senita Boone (Frank), Jade Ommert (Jeremy), and Brittany Parke (Jarrod); great grandchildren, Austin Rizer (Maddie), Brayden Rizer, Grace Rizer, Bonnie June Rizer, Avery Parke, Emily Ommert, Carter Ommert, and Emily Kessler. Bonnie was also expecting a great-great grandchild due in January 2026; as well as many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held on Friday, June 20, 2025 from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm at First Baptist Church of Springboro (80 Greenwood Lane, Springboro, Ohio 45066). Funeral service will begin at 1:00 pm. Following the service, Bonnie will be laid to rest with her husband in Miami Valley Memory Gardens.
