Bobbie proudly served in the United States Air Force from 1960 to 1982, where he developed a profound sense of duty and commitment that carried through to his civilian career in US Civil Service, which he pursued until his retirement. A graduate of Pine Knot High School, his education laid the foundation for a career dedicated to public service.

Throughout his life, Bobbie was known not only for his professional accomplishments but also for the deep affection he held for his family. A proud father and stepfather, he is survived by his son, Scott Murphy, and stepchildren Pollyanne Green and Bryan Perkins. His legacy continues through his cherished grandchildren, Christy Matheny, Eric Green, Brody Perkins, and Anna Perkins, as well as his great-grandchildren, Jackson Matheny and Grace Matheny. He shared a strong bond with his brother, David Murphy, who will remember him fondly.
