Beverly Ann Ashworth passed away on April 9th at the age of 89.
Born in Columbus, Ohio, Bev, as she was known by all who loved her, was preceded in death by her parents, James and Betty Warehime.
She is survived by her husband of 70 years, Paul “Denny” Ashworth; her son, Denny “DJ” Ashworth (Brigid Ashworth); her daughter, Cindy Frounfelker (Tom Frounfelker); her son, James Ashworth (Diane Ashworth); her ten grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother, James “Skip” Warehime (Linda Warehime) and many nieces and nephews.
Bev was a devoted family woman, known to celebrate every birthday, holiday, and occasion by gathering her large family for a meal. She worked tirelessly to keep her family close and was happiest with a house full of family, friends, and dogs.
While raising a family, Bev and Denny began a corrugated box company and shared a love of motorsports, often taking their children camping and motocross racing on the weekends. After the kids were grown, they started a sprint car team and competed in races for over 20 years. She and Denny visited nearly all fifty U.S. states and regularly vacationed in Englewood Beach, Florida. They had many beloved friends beyond their family, who she credited for, “keeping them young.”
Bev was no ordinary woman. She always did more than was expected. Gave more. Listened more. Loved more. Her Thanksgiving, Christmas and Easter celebrations were truly extraordinary, as were her homemade pies and “MawMaw Betty’s rolls.” Although quiet in nature, she could fill a room with her attentive presence. She loved people. She loved life. Not long before her parting, she told Denny, “We have had a wonderful life. Wish we could do it all over again.” She will be greatly missed, but her legacy of a life well lived continues on.
The family will receive friends on April 15th at Newcomer Funeral Home in Beavercreek from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m., with a memorial service to follow at 1:00 p.m.
