Listen to Obituary

Betty Steely, 85, of Riverside, Ohio passed away on July 5, 2026 at Soin Medical Center. Betty was born on February 26, 1941 to Mary and Peter Cline in Birchton, West Virginia. She was their first daughter and they named her Elizabeth Juanita, but she went by Betty most of her life. After graduating from Chapmanville High School, she left her hometown and headed to Ohio with her dearest friend. She found a job at Hewitt Soap Company where she met her late husband, Don and they went on to have a 58 year marriage full of love, memories and of course the occasional bickering.

Betty was a very dedicated member of Airway Baptist Church for over 60 years and was loved by everyone there. She loved the Lord with all her heart and shared that love with her family. After retirement, she spent her days caring for her grandchildren and going on pawn shop adventures with her sister, Kathy. One of her favorite past times was talking on the phone. She cherished her relationships and it was admirable how dedicated she was to keeping in touch with friends and family, regardless of distance.

Betty will be remembered for her feisty spirit, QVC obsession, warmth and the pure love and adoration she had for her friends and family - especially her great grand-babies!

Betty is survived by her daughters: Lisa (Mark) Wright, and Lori (Michael) Williams; special nephew, Chad Chafin, siblings: Jim Cline, Kathy (Henry) Chafin, and Lily Walley (Richard) Zigmond; grandchildren: Nicholas Wright, Jordan Wright and Hannah (Daniel) Renick; great grandchildren: Catalina, Javier and Beto Renick; bonus grandchildren: Justin, Jillian and Ethan Williams and bonus great grandchild, Winnie Maxwell. She also leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews who always received a birthday card from Aunt Betty.

Betty was preceded in death by her devoted husband, Donald Lee Steely, her parents and six of her siblings. She is certainly with them again.

Visitation will be held from 10:00am-11:00am on Tuesday, July 14, 2026 at Newcomer Funeral Home (3380 Dayton-Xenia Rd, Beavercreek), where funeral services will begin at 11:00am.

Betty will be laid to rest at Valley View Memorial Gardens following the service.
