Betty L. Mains, born on September 30, 1921, in Toledo, Ohio, passed away on February 3, 2026, in Dayton, Ohio. She lived a rich and fulfilling life, reaching the remarkable age of 104.

Betty graduated from Fairview High School before attending the Dayton Art Institute. Her creativity and passion for art flourished throughout her life.

She had a diverse career, working at the original Rike's Department Store. She was not only a dedicated employee but also a talented artist. Over the years, she loved to drew and paint-most notably the work she did with fashion advertisements for local department stores.

Those who knew Betty often remarked about her personality. She was a unique blend of quietness and spunk, with a sassy edge that intertwined with her sweet nature. Even at 104, she kept her wits about her, still calling everyone on their birthday to sing happy birthday, although her knees couldn’t always keep up with her lively spirit.

In her spare time, Betty enjoyed traveling, particularly on cruises with her family and spending time at the family cottage at Grand Lake Saint Marys. She found joy in gardening, tending to her beautiful yard well into her 90s. Additionally, she loved playing Bingo, trying her luck with the lottery, and watched her favorite soap operas on television.

Betty is survived by her loving daughters, Linda (David) Naas and Sue (John Jr.) Frizell; daughter-in-law Jan Mains; grandchildren Robin, Jenny, Casey, Mindy, Jodi, and Gordon; along with numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Lester and Ruth Lawton; her loving husband of 52 years, Robert William Mains; her son, Rob Mains; and grandsons, Michael Frizell and Darrin Frizell.

Betty L. Mains will be remembered not just for her talents and accomplishments, but for the love and joy she spread among her family and friends throughout her long life.

The family will receive friends on Monday, February 9, 2026 from 9:30-10:30am at the Newcomer North Chapel, 4104 Needmore Rd., Dayton, Ohio 45424. The service will follow at 10:30am. Betty will be laid to rest next to her husband at Dayton Memorial Park Cemetery.
