Betty J. Graham
Betty J. Graham, age 82 of Kettering, Ohio passed away on Sunday, April 24, 2011 at 5:40 a.m. at Hospice of Dayton. She was born July 3, 1928 in Dayton, Ohio, the daughter of the late Alvin & Elsie (Philippi) Roush. She was raised in Dayton and spent her adult life in the area.
Betty was a 1946 graduate of Patterson Co-Operative High School and retired from the Montgomery County Auditor's office after 30 years of service. She attended the Marshall Road Church of God and enjoyed sharing time with a special group of ladies close to her heart called the Angel Sisters. Her life was a testimony of her strong faith and trust in Jesus Christ. Her legacy will be she was an encourager who prayed passionately for others.
Betty enjoyed working in her yard, traveling and playing card games with her friends. She was well known by family and friends for singing her "unique" version of happy birthday to you until you begged her to quit. Her greatest love was spending time with her family.
In addition to her parents, Betty is preceded in death by her son, Mark Spinks; her daughter, Sharon Spinks; a brother, John Roush; and a sister, Jane (Roush) Scherreik; and a half-brother, William "Bud" Roush; and a half-sister, Julie (Roush) Cromwell.
Betty is survived by her sister Sarah (Roush) McMillin of Atchison, Kansas; two sons and daughters-in-law, John & Ellen Spinks of Dayton and Robert & Kathy Spinks of West Chester and 7 grandchildren; Craig Spinks, Benjamin Spinks, Daniel Spinks, Ryan McClanahan, Kristi Sturgill, Kelli Sturgill and Kassi Strugill.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, April 27, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at Marshall Road First Church of God, 4400 Marshall Road, Kettering, Ohio 45429, with Pastor Howard Briggs officiating. Burial will follow at Dayton Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. It is the wishes of the family that memorial contributions be given to Hospice of Dayton and the Marshall Road Church of God. Arrangements in care of Newcomer Funeral Home (South Chapel).
