Bernita "Joyce" Constable, beloved educator and cherished family member, was born on July 29, 1940, in Quincy, Illinois. She departed this life on November 28, 2025, in Xenia Ohio, peacefully surrounded by her daughter and son in law.
Joyce dedicated her career to teaching high school mathematics within the Colorado Springs City Schools, a role she embraced with passion until her retirement. Her commitment to education did not go unnoticed; her students were inspired by her guidance and encouragement.
Joyce graduated from Western Illinois University with a bachelor's degree in Education, laying the foundation for a career that would touch many lives. Beyond her professional achievements, she carried a vibrant love for sports, showcasing her talent as an athlete in high school. Joyce played volleyball and basketball, and her musical inclinations shone through as she played the trumpet for a drum and bugle corps in Quincy, IL.
In her passing, she leaves behind a loving family. Joyce is survived by her daughter, Grace (Al) Janiszewski, her grandchildren, Andrew (Lara) Janiszewski and Melanie (Brian) Hirsch, and her great grandson, Ethan Hirsch. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Nancy Hockgraver, and nieces Valerie (Tom) Oakley, Melissa (Eric) Withrow, and Cinda (Pat) Garst.
Joyce is preceded in death by her devoted husband, Raymond "RC" Constable, her son Raymond T. Constable, and her parents, Eunice Hanawalt and Ray Hockgraver.
Her memory will remain etched in the hearts of those who knew and loved her. Joyce's legacy of dedication, love, and strength will continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to cross her path.
