Benito Botteri, lovingly known as "Ben", passed away on December 11, 2024 at the age of 92 surrounded by the love of his family.
Born February 8, 1932 to Lucia and Luigi Botteri in New York (Queens), New York. Ben grew up with a strong sense of family and dedication. He graduated from Columbia University (NYC) as a chemist and received a Master's Degree from the University of Dayton.
Ben was honorably discharged from the United States Air Force (Captain) and worked as a civilian at Wright Patterson Air Force base as Chief of the Fire Protection Branch, retiring in 1990. He was a member of St John's United Church of Christ in downtown Dayton.
Ben is survived by his loving wife of 41 years Charlyn and his five children Bonita Botteri of Columbus, Ohio, Randolph (Julie) Botteri of Marathon Keys, Florida, Diane (Tehran) Botteri Jones of Choctow, Oklahoma, Eugene (Lora) Botteri of Santa Rosa, California and Thomas (Samantha) Botteri of Centerville, Ohio. Ben also leaves behind 10 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren as well as two nieces and two nephews from Pennsylvania and New York.
Ben and Charlyn enjoyed traveling, having small dinner parties and all of the arts (theatre, opera, ballet, symphonies and concerts from their era.)
Public visitation will be held at Newcomer Funeral Home (3380 Dayton Xenia Rd) on Friday February 21st, 2024 at 12:00 pm with a memorial service to follow at 1:00 pm with the Reverend Adam Wirring of St John's U.C.C officiating. He will be laid to rest at Willow View Cemetery (2500 Neff Ave. Dayton, Ohio) where there will be military honors from the United States Air Force. Ben's legacy is one of love, dedication and joy. May his memory bring comfort to those he leaves behind.
