Barry L. Roberts

Barry L. Roberts, 91, of Dayton, Ohio passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, February 20th. Barry was born in Dayton on June 26, 1932 to the late Ray and Pauline (Kuntz) Roberts.

He attended Corpus Christi grade school and graduated from Fairview HS in 1950. Barry was in the US Air Force 1952-1956 and graduated from the University of Dayton in 1960 with a BA in Industrial Engineering and a minor in Economics. He earned an MBA from UD in 1968.

Barry is survived by his loving wife of over 65 years, Norma J (Spraley) Roberts. He and Norma had four children, Martha (Roberts) Mitchell (Larry), deceased Sept 3, 2001, Sally (Roberts) Royer (Robert), Amy (Roberts) Weinman (Charles), and Mark Roberts (Veronica). Barry is survived by six grandchildren, Brent Royer, Nick Royer (Sarah), Alyssa (Royer) Fox (Travis), Andrew Weinman, Sarah Weinman, Lee Roberts (Taylor), and Shawn Roberts. He is also survived by three great-grandchildren, Jadeyn Lea and Jayme Viana Roberts and Leo Scott Royer. His step father Russell S. Antrim and a special Uncle Irwin J Kuntz preceded him in death. He had one brother Detmar J Roberts and sister-in-law Barbara (Yike) Roberts who also preceded him in death. He was also survived by their three daughters Shari Shaleen (Jim), Cindy Baker (John) and Paula Urban (Brian) and two nephews Troy and Derek Baker (Francesca).

While Barry was a student at UD, he worked at the Research Institute. Shortly after graduation he became the Director of Systems Development, a position he held for nine years. After leaving UD, he worked at NCR in Product Marketing for three and a half years as a Senior Systems Analyst. In 1973, he became Director of Computer Services for Antioch College network. Barry returned to NCR in 1979 and worked in Data Services until his retirement in 1994.

Barry was very active in youth sports in Centerville. He coached Little League baseball, boys and girls soccer, and was on the board for both sports. Barry enjoyed traveling, eating in fine restaurants, BLR lunches, and horse racing. At one time, he and a friend owned and raced thoroughbred horses in Ohio and Kentucky.

With honoring Barry's wishes, there will be no formal service. He was buried at David's Cemetery in Dayton, OH.
