Listen to Obituary

Barbara Jean Tyzzer, affectionately known to many as "Barb," passed away on June 8, 2026, in her hometown of Dayton, Ohio, leaving behind a legacy rich with love, dedication, and vibrant memories. Born on February 19, 1949, Barbara’s life was a testament to the joy found in both service to others and the simple pleasures that inspired her soul.

Barbara earned an associate’s degree in nursing and devoted her career to working as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN). Her commitment to caring for others was evident not only in her professional life but also in her personal relationships. She held a deep passion for antiquing, collecting dolls, and was an avid reader who found solace and inspiration in the works of Jonathan Cahn and Perry Stone. These interests not only enriched her days but connected her to many who shared her loves.

A true romantic at heart, one of Barbara’s most cherished life moments was marrying the love of her life, David Tyzzer, on February 10, 1973. Their union was a cornerstone of her life, a profound source of happiness that endured until David’s passing. Alongside the memories of her dear husband, she also mourned the loss of her parents, Ulysses and Alma Phipps, as well as her brothers Jim and Michael Phipps.

Barbara’s family was her pride and joy. She is survived by her beloved children—Scott Tyzzer, David Tyzzer, and Angela (Christopher) Blatz—and her grandchildren: Greg Tyzzer, V. (Mira) Tyzzer, Harley (Jesse) Roy, and Aiden Blatz. The light of her eyes extended to her great-granddaughter, Elora. Her caring nature extended beyond her immediate family to her brothers Richard (Nikki) Phipps, Keith (Almeda) Phipps, her sister Loretta Gail (Paul) Fields, her sister-in-law Darlene Phipps, and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends who were privileged to know her warmth and strength.

Barbara cherished travel, especially to destinations celebrated for their antiquing charm and historical significance, which perfectly mirrored her appreciation for history and beauty. These journeys were not just about places but about creating lasting memories with loved ones and exploring the treasures of the past.

A visitation to honor Barbara’s memory will be held on Saturday, June 20, 2026, from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, North Dayton, located at 4104 Needmore Rd, Dayton, OH 45424.
