Barbara I. McCormick, a cherished resident of Dayton, Ohio, passed away on June 15, 2026, at the age of 94. Born on March 21, 1932, in Dayton, Barbara’s life was marked by deep devotion to her family, a passion for creative pursuits, and a steadfast spirit that touched all who knew her.

A lifelong enthusiast of arts and crafts, Barbara found great joy in expressing her creativity. She also enjoyed playing Euchre, a pastime that brought friends and family together in moments of laughter and camaraderie. Those who knew Barbara can recall her warmth and the delight she took in these simple pleasures, which beautifully complemented her generous nature.

Barbara was the beloved daughter of the late William H. and Dorothy (Epp) Kastner. She shared a loving marriage of 55 years with her husband, John T. McCormick, Sr., whose memory remains a guiding light in her family’s lives. The couple's partnership was a foundation of strength and affection, deeply influencing those around them.

She is survived by her devoted sons, John McCormick, Jr. and Tim (Rose) McCormick. Her daughter, Kathleen (Tim) Lewis also carry forward her legacy of love and resilience. Barbara’s family circle extended joyously to her grandchildren Brian, Sharon, Robert, Jonathan, Andrew, Heather, Natalie, Brittany, Garret, and Kelsey. Her spirit further lives on through her 14 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren, as well as numerous extended family members and friends who remain close to her heart.

Barbara’s daughter, Diana Hill, preceded her in death, a loss deeply mourned by the family.

The family will honor Barbara’s life with a visitation on Monday, June 29, 2026, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, located at 3940 Kettering Blvd, Kettering, Ohio 45439. A graveside service will follow on Tuesday, June 30, 2026, at 10:30 a.m. at David’s Cemetery, 4600 Mad River Road, Dayton, Ohio 45429, where friends and family will bid their final farewell.

Barbara I. McCormick was a woman who adored her family and embraced life with grace and creativity. Her memory endures through the lives of those she loved, serving as a testament to a life well lived and deeply cherished.
