Barbara Helen Human, age 85, of Beavercreek, Ohio, embarked on her final journey peacefully on September 13, 2025. Born on October 7, 1939, in Dayton, Ohio, Barbara was a remarkable soul whose life was defined by her unwavering love for family, her generous spirit, and her infectious laughter.
Barbara devoted herself wholeheartedly to being a loving homemaker, raising her cherished family with warmth and humor. After her children were grown, she took up positions at local businesses including Bill Knapps, Crestview Nursing Home, KMart, and La Petite Academy, where her nurturing spirit continued to shine through her work with others.
She found joy in the simplest of moments, whether it was traveling and walking the beach alongside her beloved husband, John, or continuing the tradition of Saturday pizza night, a cherished family ritual that resonates in the hearts of her loved ones even today. Her vibrant personality made her the life of every gathering, embodying love, humor, and a selflessness that endeared her to everyone she met. Barbara's boundless energy was contagious; she was forever young at heart, often seen jumping rope, biking, skating, or playing tag with her children.
A passionate volunteer, Barbara dedicated her time to Sew Much Comfort, creating clothing for Wounded Warriors at Walter Reed and sleeping bags for the homeless, exemplifying her deep compassion for those in need. She was also a talented seamstress, lovingly teaching her daughters the art of sewing and crafting their clothes, including her own maternity wear—a testament to her creativity and commitment to family traditions. The holiday seasons were especially significant to her, filled with baking, cooking, and joyous family gatherings that brought everyone together.
Barbara is survived by her devoted husband of nearly 69 years, John Human, along with their loving children Karen (Paul) Ott, Pamala (Kelly) Smith, and Cindy (Dave Flaugher) McCalyne. She took immense pride in her grandchildren, including Bryan (Kari) Ott, Nathan (Chelsea) Ott, Laura Ott, Emily (Chris) Corbeille, Hannah (Justin) Cates, Abby (Patrick) Lacey, Naomi Lambert, John Hughes, Amy Hughes (Chase Morgan), Amber Haupt, Kendra (Gary) Farmer, Haleigh Human, Matt Human, and Tony Human, as well as her 20 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-granddaughter.
