Barbara Hapner

Barbara A. Hapner, affectionately known as "Gma," was born on February 23, 1940, in Quicksand, Kentucky and spent her life in Medway, OH raising her family. She departed this world on November 4, 2025, in Springboro, Ohio, leaving behind a trove of love, kindness, and cherished memories.

Barbara was a woman of compassion, who never met a stranger. Her home was always open, welcoming anyone who needed a place to feel loved and accepted. She was known for her sweet disposition and gentle spirit, which made her a loving presence in the lives of those who knew her. Her laughter was contagious, and her big smile could light up any room, creating a warmth that surrounded everyone around her.

Her daughter, Weegie (Diane) often described her mother as the daughter she never had, an illustration of the deep bond they shared, especially during the later years, when Barbara faced challenges due to her cognitive decline. Together with her other daughter, Debbie (Nick) Yardich, they held dear the cherished memories of their childhood and the beautiful home their mother created.

Barbara's love extended not only to her family but also to various stray animals, which she took into her heart and home. This compassionate nature furthered her reputation as the kindest, sweetest person you will ever know.

The family found humor in knowing dinner was ready by the lingering aroma of overcooked supper permeating throughout the house. Keeping with tradition, Barbara’s famous family reunion baked beans were always a source of laughter.

Barbara is survived by her beloved daughters, Debbie and Diane; her cherished grandchildren, Samantha Hapner and Nicky Yardich; and her great-grandchildren, Isaiah and Elias Simmons. They, along with numerous extended family members and dear friends, will carry forward her dedication of love and kindness.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Elmer and Geneva Clemons; her husband, David L. Hapner, Sr.; her son, David L. Hapner, Jr.; her brother, Kenny Clemons; her sister, Kimberly Adams; and her grandson, Seth Hapner.

Barbara A. Hapner will be remembered not just for her kindness, but also for the love and joy she sprinkled throughout her life. Her spirit will live on in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing her.
