Barbara Sue Burns, a cherished resident of Kettering, Ohio, passed away on March 19, 2026, at the age of 70. Born on January 6, 1956, in Dayton, Ohio, Barbara lived a life marked by warmth, kindness, and a deep appreciation for the simple joys that enriched her days.

Barbara was a proud graduate of Stivers High School, where she cultivated a lifelong zest for community and connection. She was known for her love of animals, especially her beloved cats and dogs, and her compassionate spirit delighted in caring for them. A devoted sports enthusiast, Barbara closely followed the Cincinnati Reds and the Bengals, frequently sharing her enthusiasm for the teams with family and friends.

Barbara enjoyed playing Bingo, exploring nature’s beauty, and indulging in her passion for thrifting, always on the lookout for treasured finds. She was fond of visiting McDonald’s, embracing these simple pleasures with joy. In her earlier years, she was a rollerskater, a pastime that mirrored her graceful and lively personality.

Above all, Barbara treasured her family. She found profound joy and meaning in spending time with loved ones, nurturing bonds that sustained and uplifted her throughout her life.

Barbara is survived by her husband, Timothy A. Burns, who stood steadfastly by her side. She leaves behind two daughters, Angela Greenlee and Sara K. Burns; her son, Thomas A. Burns; two sisters, Deborah A. (Terry) Gustin and Melissa L. (Jeffrey) Erbaugh; and her two brothers, her twin, Brian S. Hammock, and Walter (Sheila) Hammock, III. Her legacy endures through her five grandsons-Dakota S. Thurman, Colton A. Thurman, Jaxson A. Thurman, Brantley C. Pulley, and Isaiah L. Greenlee-and her granddaughter, Selah G. Greenlee. Among those who cherished her deeply was her close friend, Bonnie Lou Hammel-Blankenship. Barbara is also remembered fondly by numerous other nieces, nephews, family members and friends who were touched by her warmth and generosity.

Barbara was preceded in death by her father, Walter Hammock, Jr.; and her mother, Beulah Hammock whose memories she held dear.
