Barbara Ann Blackburn

Barbara Ann (Blakley) Blackburn, affectionately known as Barb, peacefully passed away in Dayton on Monday, June 8, 2026, at the age of 61. Born on October 12, 1964, in 29 Palms, California, Barb lived a life marked by warmth, strength, and an unforgettable spirit.

She was preceded in death by her her devoted husband of 42 years, Douglas Blackburn; beloved parents, Joann and Gary Blakley; as well as her cherished maternal grandparents, Paul and Margaret Madison, and paternal grandparents, Robert and Rosalee Blakley.

Barb leaves behind a loving family who will carry her memory with them always: her daughter Ashley Blackburn; her granddaughters Alyssa (Jimmy Kuntz) Blackburn and Brooke Brewer; her sisters Tammie (Alex) Oburn and Angel Blakley; her brother Gary Blakley Jr.; her mother-in-law Mary Klemm; her beloved cat Onyx; and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and dear friends whose lives she touched deeply. The family would like extend a special thanks to dear friend, Carol Martin for all her love and support. 

Barb was a remarkable individual with a personality like no other. She embraced her individuality proudly and had an untraditional spirit that made her truly unique. Her love for music—especially rock and heavy metal—was a defining part of who she was. She believed in listening closely to every lyric to truly understand a song’s meaning, and her passion for singing karaoke and attending concerts was a joy she carried throughout her life. Known for her generosity and kindness, Barb never hesitated to offer help, opening her heart and home to family, friends, and even strangers in need. Her warmth and compassion will be profoundly missed by everyone fortunate enough to have known her.

A gathering to honor and celebrate Barb’s life will be held on Wednesday, June 24, 2026, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home - North Chapel, located at 4104 Needmore Road, Dayton, OH 45424.
