Barbara Ann Allen

Barbara Ann Allen, of Dayton, Ohio, passed away on September 2, 2026, at the age of 90. She was born on June 30, 1936, in Stow, Ohio.

Barbara built a distinguished career as a Graphic Artist at Wright Patterson Air Force Base, where she worked for 16 years before retiring in 1999. Her retirement was brief, as she returned as a Senior Illustrator in 2000 to continue her work as a contractor with General Dynamics. An accomplished artist, Barbara will be remembered for her many contributions to the community. She was deeply devoted to her faith and to her family, and her love and presence will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

Barbara is survived by her beloved husband of 15 years, Grover Allen, Sr.; her children, Deb (Mike) Bomkamp, Al (Ligia) Olson, and Edward Olson; Grover’s children, Rick (Michelle) Allen, Patty (Tom) Wabler, Jeff (Tere) Allen, and Grover (Mary Beth) Allen, Jr.; many grandchildren; and brother, Walter (Nan) Bankes. Barbara’s family was central to her life, and those she leaves behind will continue to cherish her memory with love.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Byron and Patricia Bankes and son, John David Olson. 

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 8, 2026, from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, North Dayton, 4104 Needmore Rd, Dayton, Ohio 45424. A funeral service will follow at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Glen Haven Memorial Gardens. 

Barbara Ann Allen will be remembered for her talent, her faith, her generosity, and the care she gave to those around her. Her life touched many, and her memory will remain a lasting blessing to her family and community.
