Baraka "Elijah" Cesar

Baraka "Elijah" Cesar, a beloved and spirited young boy, was born on August 10, 2020, in Greensboro, North Carolina. He passed away on July 19, 2025, at the Dayton Children's Hospital in Dayton, Ohio, leaving behind a legacy of joy and courage.

From a young age, Elijah demonstrated a heart that was truly larger than life. His unwavering spirit and strength were evident in the way he bravely faced life's challenges, never once complained about anything. Elijah's sweet personality and infectious laughter brought light to all who had the pleasure of knowing him. Elijah had a special connection with his uncle Didi and siblings. Often found lying on his uncle chest or playing and sharing with his brothers and sisters. He had an adventurous spirit, always eager to explore the world around him, asking questions, and filling his days with curiosity.

Elijah held a deep love for sweets, often able to be bribed with his favorite foods, and his passion for watching cartoons brought countless hours of happiness. His playful nature and generous heart made him a friend to many, always ready to share a hug or a smile.

Elijah is survived by his mother, Akuma Machozi; father, Akeem Kafumba; and his siblings, Mardoche Fidele, Annah A. Ndabula, and Joham K. Akeem. The family circle also includes his uncles, Watum Dieudone and Anock Aloro; aunt, Gemima Lotchima; maternal grandma, Titie Edozi; honorary grandmas, Ning Peel and Bonnie Simmons; along with numerous other family members and friends who cherished him deeply.

Elijah is preceded in death by his grandpa, Jean Baptist.

Visitation services will be held on Saturday, August 2, 2025, from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM at Newcomer Funeral Home, North Dayton, located at 4104 Needmore Rd, Dayton, OH 45424. Following the visitation, a funeral service will commence at 10:00 AM with burial to follow at Mt. Zion Park Cemetery. 

The family requests that the memories of Elijah remain a source of comfort and joy, celebrating a life full of warmth, adventure, and love.
