Attley Bundy

Attley Bundy departed from this world on the night of June 1st, 2026 in Jamestown, Ohio, with his two children at his side. Born in Portland, Oregon on April 4th, 1933 and raised in Washington, Attley joined the Air Force in 1950 and served for 23 years in at least 12 separate posts, including South Korea, France, England, Italy, and too many in the states to count before retiring in 1975 and moving to Boulder, Colorado, and later to Beavercreek, and finally Jamestown, Ohio.

Early in his career, he met and married Dorothy Snow of Sedalia, Missouri, his wife of 72 years, who survives him. He is also survived by his daughter, Charlene (Robert) Fox, son, Jay (Lisa Brown) Bundy and grandchildren, Tasha Fox and Wyatt Fox.

Before the Air Force, Attley was a logger on the Olympic Peninsula. In the Air Force, he served in the Cold War, leading teams installing and maintaining long range surveillance radar systems all over the world. Afterward, he served as an airplane mechanic, tech company manufacturing manager, car wash owner, tax preparer, Tractor Supply Company sales rep (and volunteer project advisor), horseman, farmer, college student, loving grandfather and friend to everyone he met.

Attley Bundy did not like following the rules of others, but he did like orange soda, Golden Oreos, 3-D printers, Snickers, problem solving, trading horses, machining, Rice Krispy Treats, investment analysis, any kind of pie and flying private aircraft. He took his family camping on the beach of the Adriatic Sea, on a mule ride to the bottom of the Grand Canyon, spent a Christmas alone on a 23,000-acre ranch in Wheatland, Wyoming, and more trail rides than we could count. He learned to SCUBA dive on Johnston Island in the middle of the Pacific Ocean. He taught his grandson, Wyatt, how to build fences and choose the right tool for a job. He and his son, Jay, flew a 1946 fabric covered, hand prop plane from Boulder to Oshkosh, Wisconsin and back.

In 2018, he completed his bachelor’s degree in finance from Wright State University at the age of 84 and graduated, sharing the stage with his granddaughter, Tasha, who was awarded her MBA in the same ceremony. He stayed married the whole time.
