It is with a spirit of peace that we announce the passing of Arnulfo M. Dacanay, 90 years old of Marikina City, Philippines and Springboro, Ohio on October 31, 2025 after a brief illness.

He was born on October 11, 1935 in Sampaloc Manila, Philippines, the son of Paciano Dacanay and Salvacion Medina. He was the youngest and last of his generation, preceded in death by his parents and 8 brothers and sisters. He was a devoted husband to his wife of nearly sixty years, Dolores and beloved father to his two daughters, Anna Carmencita (Larry Hicks) and Maria Cecilia.Fondly called Arning by his Pinoy friends, Arnold by new found friends and family and Uncle/Lolo Boy by numerous nephews, nieces and grandchildren.

He was a draftsman and pursued a degree in industrial education. He spent more than thirty years at San Miguel Corporation, Packaging Products Division.

He was a good, unassuming and kind man who dedicated his life to God through active church service, as an Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion at Minor Basilica and Diocesan Shrine Parish of St. Paul of the Cross in the Philippines and at St. Mary of the Assumption in Springboro, Ohio.

He was creative and artistic, enjoyed lettering projects and making handmade greeting cards and home decorations. He was a joy to be with, always had a funny remark, a friendly advice, the widest smile and an assuring pat on the back that made the world much brighter.

He loved reading, listening to 50s-60s music and watching Westerns and action movies. Prior to his diagnosis of ESRD last May, he enjoyed cookouts with family. He declined aggressive treatment and wanted to spend the rest of his life pain free. He fulfilled his wish and made it to his 90th birthday.
