Arnold Glenn McCormick, age 71 of Dayton, passed away Wednesday, May 9, 2018 at V.A. Medical Center- Lakeside Manor Nursing Home under hospice care. He was born March 9, 1947 in Dayton, Ohio, son of Eston Arnal and Ruth Belle McCormick.
In addition to his parents, Arnold is preceded in death by his wife of 36 years, Judy Ona McCormick (2016) and an infant daughter, Chelsea Ruth McCormick.
Arnold is survived by his daughters, Amanda Sue (Carlos Anthony Espinoza) McCormick and Dianna Marie (Gerald) Dalley; grandson, Nosferatu Joshua Espinoza; brother, Harvey McCormick and a nephew, James R. McCormick as well as many friends.
Arnold was a 1964 graduate of High School and trained as a respiratory therapist at Sinclair Community College. He was a US Navy Veteran who served honorably during the Vietnam War. Arnold was a respiratory therapist for 22 years for Grandview Hospital before retiring and taking a different career path in transportation as an over-the-road truck driver for National Truck Brokers. Finally, Arnold was employed with Delphi as a line worker assembling the chassis systems. He was a life-long member of the Disabled American Veterans and maintained memberships with local posts of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion. Arnold was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Fairborn and was active in many callings for the church. He was an avid collector of string instruments and talented musician with skills for the 12-string guitar, mandolin and violin. Arnold studied geology and archaeology and enjoyed collecting various finds.He also enjoyed a frequent ride on his motorcycle in his younger days.
Family will receive guests for visitation from 11:00 am-12:00 pm Monday, May 14, 2018 at Newcomer Funeral Home, Kettering. A service will immediately follow at 12:00 pm also at the funeral home. Procession to Dayton National Cemetery for burial and military honors will conclude Arnold's services. In lieu of flowers the family request that in memory of Arnold, acts of kindness are preformed to honor his love and generosity.
