Arnold James Rose

Arnold James Rose, of Vandalia, Ohio, passed away on September 28, 2026, in Vandalia. He was born on April 29, 1938, in Harlan, Kentucky.

Arnold built a long and dedicated working life. He began his career at General Motors, where he worked for 40 years before retiring. After that retirement, he returned to work with the City of Vandalia and continued there for another 16 years before retiring again. His strong work ethic and steady commitment marked much of his life.

Outside of work, Arnold enjoyed a wide range of interests that brought him happiness and reflected his personality. He enjoyed racing and tractor pulls, and he loved painting, especially in the style of Bob Ross. He was also a fan of Star Trek. In his free time, he loved to exercise and enjoyed going to the gym. He was exceptionally devoted to his wife, Sandra, and took care of her--often putting her needs in front of his own. 

Arnold will be deeply missed by his beloved wife of 46 years, Sandra Rose. He is also survived by his children, Sandy (Rick) Moore, John (Pam) Rose, and Don (Debbie) Rose; grandchildren, Robin Rose, Daniel Rose, Ashley (Chris) Fryman, and Sarah (Jeff) Popella; great-grandchildren, Lauren and Adrian; special niece, Bobbie Miller; and numerous extended family members and friends. 

He was preceded in death by his father, John Rose; mother, Dovie Rose; his four sisters; and his special friend, Jack Little.

A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, October 6, 2026 at 12:00PM at David's Cemetery Mausoleum, 4600 Mad River Road, Dayton, Ohio 45429. Family and friends may visit from 11:00AM until the time of service. 

Arnold James Rose will be remembered with love for his years of hard work, the enjoyment he found in his many interests, and the devotion he shared with his family and friends.
