Arhlene June Gallant

Arthlene June Gallant of Dayton, Ohio, departed earthly life for her heavenly home on Tuesday evening, September 15, 2026. She was born in Winterport, Maine, on March 11,1944, the third child of Arthur Henry and Emily Letitia (Malcolm) Gallant.

She was born again, according to John 3:5 and Acts 2:38, at a young age and remained an active member of Winterport Full Gospel Assembly, founded and pastored by Reverend Fred and Gladys McLaughlin and subsequent pastors, for the first 28 years of her life. She graduated from Winterport High School in 1962 and went on to graduate from United Pentecostal Bible Institute (now Northeast Christian College) in Fredericton (Marysville), New Brunswick, Canada. After College days, she received ministerial credentials from the United Pentecostal Church International, helping Churches both in Maine and New Brunswick. For a time, she attended the United Pentecostal Church of Friendship, Maine, and was nanny to “the Beal boys” whose fisherman father was lost at sea in a tragic drowning accident off the coast of Maine.

She worked as a nurse for the next many years in nursing, rehabilitation, and health care facilities inRockland, Belfast, Searsport, and Bangor, Maine. She left the public workplace for number of years to provide skilled in-home health care for her mother who had suffered cardiac arrest and a massive stroke that left her with numerous disabilities. After her mother’s decease, she continued running the home and providing essential medical attention for her ailing father whose health was in serious decline from advanced Parkinson’s Disease. When she could no longer keep up with around-the-clock demands of his medical needs, she had to place him in a skilled health care facility where he received 24-hour attention from a rotating staff.

In 1973, she and her beloved mother transferred their Church membership to First Apostolic Church of Brewer (now First Pentecostal Church) on Parkway South where she remained an active member and ardent supporter of all Church activities and various related ministries for nearly 40 years under the oversight of Pastor & Mrs. David R. Smith. Subsequently , she (and her mother) provided TLC and nanny services for all four of the Smith children into their teenage years. Whenever the Smiths transitioned from their longtime pastoral role in Brewer to do fulltime worldwide missionary evangelism, Arthlene decided to “pick up roots” and move to Dayton, Ohio, where she would sit under the ministry of Pastor Bradley D. Smith at The Apostolic Lighthouse Church on Harshman Road. For nearly 14 years, she was a faithful member, there…attending her final service just one week prior to her passing.

She was predeceased by her parents, Emily and Arthur Gallant; an infant brother, William Arthur Gallant; numerous loved ones and extended family members.

She is survived by her older brother, David Henry Gallant & wife, Dale, of Indiana and nieces: Letitia Chase, Shawna Cooper, and Heidi Lord all of Maine, and Kristen Moran of Indiana; as well as 11 great nieces and nephews and 7 great-great nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her adopted family of nearly fifty-five years: Pastor David R. & Donna M. Smith and their children: Pastor Bradley & Tiffany Smith and their family; Amanda and Timothy Birmingham and their girls; and Maria & Christopher Channell and their family all of the Dayton area, and Marcus & Chanda Smith and their sons of Phoenix, Arizona. She is further remembered and will be missed by a host of friends from near & far, as well as ALC/Dayton family members who have provided great support, comfort, and encouragement to her for the past several years…especially during months of declining health. She’s finally HOME where she longed to be; she’s at peace…and no longer waiting for her ride to show up and carry her to the heavenly city: NEW JERUSALEM!

Special thanks to Amanda, Angela, and the caring staff at The Cottages of Clayton for making it possible for Arthlene to remain at home for the final leg of her earthly journey. Also, sincere gratitude to nurses and various staff members from Crossroads Hospice and Palliative Care who provided necessary comfort care during final hours. May God bless you all!

Services for Arthlene will be held under the oversight of Elder David R. Smith and Pastor Bradley D. Smith at The Apostolic Lighthouse Church, 2221 Harshman Road in Dayton, Ohio, on Friday, September 25, 2026. Respects can be paid in the ALC sanctuary between Noon and 1:00 PM, followed immediately thereafter by a Celebration of Life Memorial Service. Interment will take place at a later time in the Gallant family lot at Oak Hill Cemetery in Winterport, Maine.
