Mr. Anthony Hinton, known to most by his many nicknames, “Tony, Big Hint, H”, passed away in his hometown of Dayton, Ohio on May 31, 2026 at 66 years old. Born on January 6, 1960, Anthony’s life was enriched by his love for his family, friends, music, and sports.
Anthony was a graduate of Colonel White High School and was a phenomenal basketball player for their 1978 team. Upon graduating, he then went on to study at Wilberforce University playing collegiate basketball and receiving an Associates degree. Anthony worked in the public school system as a teacher’s aide and retired after 30 years of service.
Lovingly known as Pop-pop to his grandsons, Anthony was a true sports enthusiast, who spent many years as a basketball coach to youth in his community. He was a lifelong LA Clippers and Cincinnati Bengals fan, with weekends and evenings being dedicated to watching his favorite teams throughout the years. He loved music and had a beautiful singing voice.
Anthony is survived by his sons Benjamin Hinton and Brice (Brittany) Hinton; 2 grandsons Brice T. Hinton and Maverick Hinton. Anthony is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Janet Hinton, sons Bernard and Antonio Hinton, mother Antonia Hinton, grandmother Genevive Thomas, and sister Sonia Hinton.
Anthony will be greatly missed by his family and a host of friends too numerous to name. Anthony wished to have his ashes joined with his late wife Janet to honor their eternal love.
