Anthony Elijah Allen Gates "Chucc", age 16, of Dayton, passed away on Tuesday, June 16, 2026, at Miami Valley Hospital. He was born on November 13, 2009, in Dayton, Ohio, the beloved son of Marcus Griffin and India Gates. 

Anthony, affectionately known as "Chucc," had a personality that was truly one of a kind. Though he could be slow to warm up to people, once you got to know him, his funny, kind, helpful, and giving nature shined brightly. He had a magical way of making others smile with his quick wit, playful sense of humor, and endless ability to crack jokes. His presence brought joy, laughter, and light to those around him. Anthony enjoyed spending his time playing video games, listening to music, dancing, and making people laugh. He was a passionate fan of basketball and football and loved everything that allowed him to express his unique style. Whether it was a fresh hairstyle, flashy clothes, or his dream cars, Anthony had a flair for standing out and showing the world who he was. He embraced life with energy, confidence, and an unforgettable spirit that will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

 He was preceded in death by his maternal great-grandparents, Mary and Felix Lark, and his paternal great-grandparents, Annette and Clarence Griffin. 

Anthony is survived by his loving parents, India Gates and Marcus Griffin; maternal grandparents, Retha Gates and Oscar (Carla) Young; paternal grandparents, Charlett Griffin and Tony Harris; special aunts, Angel (Timothy) and Tiara; uncles, Markus (Cameo), Mathew (Sophia), Tony, and Michael (LaVete); siblings, Alexander (Phansi), Alexis, Ashanti, Andrew (Timirah), Antonio (Gloria), and Arielle; nieces and nephews, Jade, Alaiyah, Alexander Jr., Christopher, Chozen, Arlo, and Keion. He is also survived by numerous other relatives, friends, and loved ones who will forever cherish his memory and carry his laughter, love, and unique spirit in their hearts. 

Anthony's life, though far too short, left an everlasting impact on everyone blessed to know him. His smile, humor, kindness, and unmistakable style will never be forgotten.

Visitation will be held from 11:30 am -12:30 pm on Friday, July 24, 2026 at St. Luke Baptist Church (2262 N. Gettysburg Ave., Dayton, Ohio 45406). Funeral Service will be held from 12:30 pm - 1:30 pm at St. Luke Baptist Church (2262 N. Gettysburg Ave., Dayton, Ohio 45406).
