Angela Kilgore, age 66, of Dayton, passed away peacefully at Miami Valley Hospital on Thursday, September 18, 2025. Each of her sons held her hands, shared stories, and played her favorite music as she took her last breath.
Angela was deeply dedicated to her family, her community—through her work with St. Vincent de Paul—and her neighbors. She loved Barry Manilow, Harry Potter, and Choir! Choir! Choir! She enjoyed building dollhouses and reading Stephen King books. She had a big laugh, an even bigger heart, and was kind to everyone. She loved making jokes, even when no one else got them. Angela loved her family deeply, and was unflinchingly dedicated to them. She did absolutely anything needed to be helpful and supportive when her loved ones were in need.
Angela was an Army veteran and a florist, but spent most of her career working in the county auditor’s office. She lived most of her life in Dayton, OH, but also spent time in Monterey, CA, where she gave birth to her first child, Lane Shober, and in Kansas City, where her sons Alex and Adam were born.
Angela is survived by her sons, Alex (Ashley) and Adam (Angie); her siblings, Terri (Bobby) Cockrell, Susan Kothman, Dave (Ellen) Kothman, and Kitty (Joe) Grote; and her granddaughter, Violet.
