Ana Carmen Simonpietri Gonzalez

Ana Carmen Simonpietri González, age 95, passed away peacefully Thursday, November 16, 2017 at Friends Care Center, Yellow Springs, Ohio. She was born on February 21,1922, in San Juan, Puerto Rico, to Aristides and Carmen (Sanchéz) Simonpietri. Ana married René González on April 20, 1946 in Fort Gulick, Panama Canal Zone.
Ana studied at the Colegio de las Madres in Puerto Rico and received her BS at the College of Saint Elizabeth in Morristown, N.J. Her life was always filled with family and friends. She was a member of Saints Peter and Paul Parish in Miami, Florida where she lived for 50 years and taught 2nd grade at the parish school for the Archdiocese of Miami. She and René hosted the Block Rosary in their neighborhood for over 20 years. She was an accomplished seamstress and cook. The aroma of wonderful Puerto Rican dishes filled the house. She traveled to visit family and friends throughout the US and abroad. A devoted daughter, wife, mother and grandmother, her three daughters, were her main focus as were her 12 grandchildren.
Ana is survived by daughters, Carmen (Peter) Nelson, and Miriam G. Malone; grandchildren, Marc (Anna) Nelson, Ryan (Alison) Nelson, Catherine Nelson, Frances (Bart) Smith, Ana Maria (Steven) Carter, Carmen (Charlie) Wilder, Madeline (Danny) Brough, Anthony Peter (Christine) Bertasi, Elliot (Catherine) Bertasi, Dickson Malone, Kate (Greg) Krumdick, and William (Millie) Malone. Son in law, Anthony Bertasi; and 30 great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, Aristides and Carmen; husband Rene; daughter, Rita Maria Bertasi; great grandson, Jude Wilder.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be on Friday, November 24, 2017 at St. Paul's Catholic Church, 308 Phillips St, Yellow Springs, OH 45387, at 10:00 am. Entombment will follow at a later date at Our Lady of Mercy Cemetery, 11411 NW 25th St. Miami, Florida.
Donations in Ana's memory will be gratefully accepted for the establishment of a scholarship fund for nursing students at Friends Care Center, 150 East Herman Street, Yellow Springs, OH 45387.
