Amy Ellen Erb, a cherished and beloved figure known for her warmth, kindness, and unwavering devotion to family and community, passed away peacefully on June 4, 2026, at her home. Born on November 14, 1960, in Cincinnati, Ohio, Amy's life was marked by a beautiful spirit, a generous heart, and a deep commitment to the people she loved.
Amy graduated from Wyoming High School in 1979, where she distinguished herself as an accomplished band member and a soloist in the Ohio All-State Choir—a testament to her lifelong passion for music. She furthered her education at Northern Kentucky University, earning a business degree that would serve as the foundation for various administrative positions at General Electric, the University of Cincinnati, and WSP in Indianapolis. She was respected for her professionalism and genuine care for colleagues and friends alike.
Her personality was a blend of sweetness, adventure, and sincerity. Amy was a friend to everybody she met, always greeting others with a radiant smile and a listening ear. She was known for her remarkable ability to remember the smallest details about those around her—an indication of how deeply she valued each connection. A talented vocalist with a beautiful voice, Amy delighted in singing in choirs and playing the clarinet with the New Horizons Band. Her love of music and camaraderie was a source of joy throughout her life.
Beyond her musical gifts, Amy was a devoted member of Highland Avenue Baptist Church for over 40 years, actively participating in its ministries and fostering a strong community of faith and fellowship. She was equally passionate about her hobbies and interests, which included gardening, traveling, camping, and cooking. Throughout her fight with cancer, Amy continued to remain active in her role as membership chair of the Women’s TriArt Society and her involvement with Aqua Babes.
Perhaps Amy’s proudest accomplishments were her roles as mother and grandmother. She loved these roles deeply, nurturing each member of her family with boundless love and care. Amy is survived by her devoted husband, Shawn Erb; her children, Hannah (Eric) Vande Griend, Cameron (Elyse) Nawaz, Jason (Joy) Erb, Josh (Katie) Erb, Nicole (Brian) Schmitz, and Heather (Dillon) Ruth; and her beloved grandchildren, Emery, Dawson, Sloane, Vinny, Emmett, Elinor, Brayden, Fischer, Finley, Frankie, Forrest, Rowan, and Rosie. She is also survived by her dear sister, Catherine (Larry) Green, many extended relatives, in-laws, and friends, and her treasured puppy, Henry Rowdy.
Amy was preceded in death by her parents, James and Eva Bishop, whose legacy of love she carried forward in every aspect of her life.
Surrounded by her family in her final moments, Amy Ellen Erb leaves behind a legacy of joy, compassion, and an enduring spirit that touched the hearts of all who knew her. Her genuine nature, infectious smile, and unwavering love will be deeply missed but forever remembered. Amy wishes to be remembered for her most meaningful roles: “Wife, Mother, daughter, Step-mother, Sister, Grandma--my best roles as well as a friend to many.”
Amy's family would like to thank Kettering Hospital, The James Cancer Center, and Ohio's Hospice for their compassion and care.
