Interment (Woodland Cemetery) immediately following service.

Alvin David Hunt was born August 08,1954 in Jamaica Queens NY to Bernetha (Ginyard) Hunt and the late Rufus Hunt. He departed this life on April 04, 2020 in Dayton Ohio.

Alvin was raised in New York and received his high school diploma from Jamaica High School. After high school Alvin attended The Bronx Community College. Later, he enlisted in the United States Air Force. Alvin was eventually stationed at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base in Dayton, Ohio. Alvin retired after 39 years as an NOC Tier 1 Engineer with Altura Communications Solutions.

While stationed at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Alvin met the love of his life Saadia Abner Hunt. The two were married on April 14,1979. This marriage produced two children, Tia (Hunt) Roberson and Taryn (Hunt) LaPrath.

Alvin and Saadia, who preceded him in death, decided to make Dayton, Ohio their place of residence and raise their two daughters. He was an active father- present and cheering his daughters on in everything they were involved in. He made sure to collect keepsakes and memorabilia from every event, whether it be a button picture, a glove, an instrument, or even a piece of string.

Alvin loved his family and friends. It was hard to get into the circle, but once you were in you were there for life. He was there for you no matter what or how far the distance. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends, bike riding, road trips, eating at AL's restaurant, and most of all spending time with his daughters and grandkids. Alvin would travel often to New York to make sure that his mom and his sister were taken care of. Even though the more time he spent away it drove him crazy to get back into that New York traffic.

Alvin donated to many different charities and organizations such as; Sickle Cell Awareness, Breast Cancer Awareness, Coalition for American Veterans, American Veterans Honor Fund and Childhood Leukemia just to name a few. He also signed up to be a bone marrow donor and organ donor to be able to help others.

Alvin was a member of Mount Pisgah Church where he served on the Trustee Board for many years. He was a devoted son, husband, father, grandpa, uncle and friend. Alvin leaves to cherish his memory two daughters Tia Roberson(Rob) of Cincinnati, OH and Taryn LaPrath(Tory) of Dayton, OH; his mother Bernetha Hunt and one sister Marsha Hunt, of Jamaica Queens, New York.

He also leaves four sisters-in-laws and one brother-in-law: Samantha Wallace(Anthony), Naperville, IL; Swuena Northern, Lithonia, GA; Soyanna Manuel(Randy), Rex, GA; Sanjanetta Harris, Jacksonville, FL and Seth Abner(Michelle) Jacksonville, FL. Four grandchildren; Kaiden LaPrath, Jaiden Roberson, Kamden LaPrath, and Karina LaPrath. A host of in-laws, nieces, nephews and cousins. And a special friend Pam Stokes.

If you feel the desire to give, the family is asking that, in lieu of flowers, you consider making a donation to one of the two charitable organizations that Alvin held very close to his heart: Sickle Cell Disease Association of America (www.sicklecelldisease.org) or AmVets (amvets.org)
