Alma "Ruth" Treadway, age 90 of Centerville, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday April 15, 2026. Ruth’s passing holds poignant significance, as she departed this life on what would have been her 73rd wedding anniversary with her beloved husband, George Treadway (who passed away on March 5, 2011) — an extraordinary demonstration to their enduring love.
Born on November 2, 1935, in Molus, Kentucky, Ruth’s life was marked by her devotion to family, and her spirit of warmth and kindness that touched most everyone who knew her. Ruth’s remarkable life reflects a legacy of love, and unwavering strength that will continue to inspire all who were fortunate to know her. The memory of Ruth will remain a guiding light and a source of comfort to her family and all whose lives she enriched.
Ruth was a devout member of the Morningstar Baptist Church (previously known as Franklin Street Baptist Church) in Centerville, Ohio. There she enjoyed traditional hymns and contemporary worship while in the presence of life-long, Christ-centered friends and family members. She cherished her membership for more than 60 years, and embraced the personal relationship she developed there with her Lord, Jesus Christ.
Ruth’s professional journey began with several early years of service at Elder Beerman, after which she devoted many fulfilling years as a teacher at the Early Childhood Learning Center in Centerville. Outside of her professional and family life, Ruth found joy in a variety of hobbies. She was an enthusiastic Sudoku player, and a passionate scrapbooker who lovingly assembled dozens of family photo albums. Ruth also delighted in listening to her beloved husband George sing and play guitar at restaurants and on special occasions for friends and family - moments that were a testament to their enduring partnership and shared joys.
Family members will cherish special memories of endless days and nights spent camping all across this vast country, as well as family picnics, fireworks, holidays and movie nights celebrated at NCR’s Old River Park.
Ruth was preceded in death by her loving husband, George Treadway, her sons Randy and Will Treadway, brothers Kermit and Harold Price, sister Anna Thelma Ledger, and great grandson Keaton Moore. She is survived by her dear brother, Eugene Price, her daughter-in-law Judy (Will) Treadway of Kettering; daughters Vickie (Charlie) Barnhill of Kettering, Beverly Waker (Steve Albers) of Belmont, Tammie Landess (John Robinson) of Kettering and Ellie Powell of Centerville; grandchildren Jennifer (Cody) Smeltzer, Nathan Gillett, Jeremy Barnhill, Matthew (Dianna) Barnhill, Joy Barnhill, Laura (Seth) Dionne, Michelle (Luis) Lopez, Joseph Landess (Brittany McCune), Josh (Moniqua) Robinson, Johnny Robinson, Keith (Laura) Treadway, Karen (David) Burdiss, Andrea (Matthew) Tinonga, Heather (Alex) Hoover and Shayne Decker; 27 great grandchildren and 8 great-great grandchildren as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
