Alfred Lee Chambers, affectionately known as Al, was born on December 21, 1942, in Dayton, Ohio. He embarked on his journey through life with a spirit that was undeniably vibrant and a heart that welcomed everyone. Al's life lit up the world around him and bore witness to a tremendous journey filled with passion, dedication, and love.
For an impressive 31 years, Al devoted himself to the craft of electrical work at General Motors. His steadfast contributions not only reflected his skills but also showcased his commitment to a profession he loved dearly. Educated at Fairmont High School and furthering his studies at Sinclair College, Al earned his Associate's Degree, equipping him with the knowledge that set the foundation for a fruitful career.
Beyond the workplace, Al was known for his charming personality. A man who never met a stranger, he was as friendly as they come, and his straightforward manner was often coupled with an air of wisdom and knowledge. He had a unique ability to connect with others and was never shy to share his opinions, leaving behind a legacy of heartfelt conversations and memorable interactions.
Al's interests painted a vivid picture of a life well-lived. He found immense joy in fishing, boating, and jet-skiing; the thrill of riding motorcycles, and the soulful melodies of playing the keyboard and harmonicas brought him delight. Music flowed through him, epitomized by his love of gospel singing, where he harmonized with fellow enthusiasts. Each year, the 4th of July transformed into a vibrant family reunion under his guidance, celebrating the bonds of love and kinship.
His heart swelled with joy when surrounded by family, especially his beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who were the light of his life. Those precious moments spent together became timeless treasures etched in family folklore. The annual escape to the Rio Grande Valley, Texas, with his dear wife Emma for six months each year painted memories as colorful as the sunsets over the valley, a cherished tradition that thrived for nearly three decades.
On November 8, 2025, the world lost a remarkable soul. He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Emma Chambers, whose companionship defined their shared journey. Their legacy is continued by their children—Keith Chambers (Karen), Beverly Kirkwood, Caren Lombardo (Steven), and David Chambers (Nicole)—and their grandchildren, Benjamin Casey, Kody Chambers, Rebekka Starr, Matthew Morrissey, Dusty Shenfield, Derek Shenfield, and Sabrina Chambers, alongside great-grandchildren Kenslee Casey, Emory Casey, Orion Harris, Sophie Cody, Juanita Cody, and many more. Al is also fondly remembered by his sister, Linda Wise, and brother, Robert Chambers, as well as countless nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends who were graced by his presence.
Al was preceded in death by his parents, William G. and Ruth Chambers, as well as his brothers, Paul Chambers and Dale Chambers, and sisters, Marjorie Zimmerle and Jo Ann Garman.
