Alan R. Wermter, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and esteemed veteran, passed away on April 8, 2025, in Enon, Ohio, at the age of 71. Born on November 13, 1953, in Crosby-Ironton, Minnesota, Alan dedicated a significant part of his life to serving his country and cherishing his family.
Alan proudly served in the United States Air Force, achieving the rank of Senior Master Sergeant (SMSGT) during his remarkable 26-year military career. After retiring from active service, he continued to serve his community through the State of Ohio National Guard for an additional 18 years. His commitment to service exemplified his strong character and dedication to the safety and well-being of others.
A man of gentle spirit and warmth, he was known for his easy-going nature and love for his family. Alan delighted in spending time with his loved ones, especially during cherished moments spent fishing on his boat with his son and grandchildren. He enjoyed hunting, primarily for deer, and took great pleasure in tending to his vegetable garden. In quieter moments, he found solace in staying home to enjoy a cup of coffee, reflecting on the joys of life.
Alan is survived by his beloved wife, Pavinee Wermter, with whom he celebrated 49 years of marriage. He is also survived by his children, Yuthakorn (Machelle) Wermter and Roberta (Timmy) Matheny, and a loving legacy of grandchildren: Brian, Alexis, Damien, Thayvun, Keagan, and Aryauna. Additionally, he cherished his great-granddaughter, Juniper. He is further survived by his siblings: Gayle (Larry) Lien, Melvin (Cathi) Wermter, and Gary (Terry) Wermter.
He was preceded in death by his father, Melvin Wermter; mother, Arlene Wermter; and siblings: Duane Wermter, Jim Wermter, Lonnie Wermter, Vicky Shelhon, and Mark Wermter.
Visitation will be held on April 22, 2025, at Newcomer Funeral Home, North Dayton, from 11:00 AM until 12:00 PM, followed by a funeral service at 12:00 PM. A graveside service will take place with military honors at Dayton National Cemetery at 2:00 PM.
Alan R. Wermter will be deeply missed by all who knew him, and his memory will forever remain in the hearts of his family and friends.
