Gerald David Nelson
1941 - 2022

Gerald D. Nelson, 81, unexpectedly passed away at his home on August 5, 2022.

Gerry was born April 3, 1941 in Albert Lea, MN. He spent most of his childhood in Porter MN; living with his father Lyndon, his mother Velva, and his sister Nancy. He graduated from Canby Highschool in 1959 and then attended South Dakota State University. It was during this time that he met his first and only love Marlys. They married in 1963 and were together the rest of his life.

After college, Gerry started his thirty plus year career at NCR. Gerry and Marlys had their daughter Monique and son David while living in South Dakota, moved to Sioux City IA, then eventually settled in Trotwood OH. After retiring from NCR, Gerry worked at Home Depot until 2016. He was active at his church, serving as an usher and trustee of Fairview United Methodist in Dayton.

Gerry is preceded by his parents and his sister; and is survived by his wife, two children, and three grand-children Nikki and Sophia Presutti and Brianna Nelson.

Gerry will be remembered as a kind and compassionate man who always had a smile and friendly word for family, friends, and anyone he met. He will be missed as a husband, father, father-in-law, grandpa (pee-pa), and friend.

A visitation will be held from 1-2PM with service to follow at 2PM on Saturday, May 20, 2023 at Fairview United Methodist Church, 828 W. Fairview Dr., Dayton.
