In Memory Of
Virginia Ruth Smith
1930 - 2022
Born in Nashville, Tennessee, Virginia spent most of her adult life in Dayton, Ohio. She was a vibrant woman with a zest for life. She assisted her husband, Lee, in the family business. They owned the chain of Gem City Valet and Kimmel shoe repair stores, which were located in the city of Dayton and surrounding areas. While Lee stood in the forefront, Virginia was on the side focusing on critical business issues.
Virginia was an incredibly strong and independent lady who raised her daughter Sherry with an "iron hand." Sherry, her only child, was her pride and joy. However, the loves of her life were her granddaughter Trinity, and the family dog, Harlequin. Virginia was a no-nonsense matriarch in handling her home and family affairs. Throughout the years, she loved shopping, especially at her favorite store, Talbots.
Virginia was preceded in death by her husband of forty-five years, Lee W. Smith, Sr.
She leaves to morn her death, Sherry Len Smith, daughter; granddaughter Trinity Lanai Smith; long-time friend Aldelphia (Faye) Saunders, as well as a host of other friends and caregivers.
Family will receive guests from 11 AM - 12 PM on Saturday, May 21, 2022 at Newcomer Funeral Home, Centerville Chapel (820 Miamisburg-Centerville Rd., Dayton, 45459) where a Celebration of Life Service will begin at 12 noon. Interment will follow the service at Woodland Cemetery, Dayton. Repass will follow the graveside ceremony at 6765 Tifton Green Dr., Centerville, OH 45459.
