Norma Jean Mitchell was born in Dayton, Ohio, on February 13, 1941, and was the only child born to the late Willie and Sarah Davis. Mitchell transitioned from her earthly home to her spiritual home on January 4, 2022.
Norma loved attending church and gave her life to Christ at a young age. She enjoyed singing in the choir, roller skating, and serving. Norma had a passion for learning, teaching, tutoring, helping others and education.
Norma was a graduate of Roosevelt High School in Dayton, Ohio. She later earned her bachelor's degree from Central State University and her master's degree in Education from Miami University of Ohio. She found great pleasure in the success of every student that crossed her path and was an educator Emeritus after 45 years of service.
Norma was a loving and devoted mother of 7 sons and one daughter. She shared her love with others through foster care and adoption for 28 years.
Norma loved Sunday dinners, traveling, visiting with friends and family, and playing various games. She was also known for being the hands and feet of Jesus through her acts of kindness and her words of wisdom and support.
Norma was preceded in death by her parents, Willie and Sara Davis, and son, Kristopher George.
Norma is survived by her children: Kevin (Deneen) George, Kraig (Irvin), Kyle (Nicole) George, Koerry (Arianne) Mitchell, Makayla, Braxton, and Braydon; a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
A visitation will be held from 12:00pm to 2:00pm on Wednesday, January 19, 2022 at the Revival Center Ministries International church, 3011 Oakridge Drive, Dayton, OH 45417, where a funeral service will begin at 2:00pm.
