Durrell "Bud" Smith
1943 - 2021

Durrell "Bud" Smith, age 77 of Beavercreek, passed away Tuesday, October 19, 2021 at Soin Medical Center. He was born November 24, 1943 in Cookville, Tennessee the son of Johnny Haskell and Avo Smith.

In high school, he played basketball and football. After high school, he served in the Army National Guard. He then moved to Ohio where he lived with his sister and brother in law. Bud was a union sheet metal worker at Leo B Schroeder Inc where he worked until he retired. His passion for the outdoors was unbelievable; he loved hunting, fishing, racing and gardening. He was also an amazing cook. He truly enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. Bud was an amazing husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend who will be dearly missed by all who knew him.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Emily; his parents and 4 brothers, Willis, Hulon, Flavious & Bill Smith.

Bud is survived by his children, David (Laura) Smith & Rebecca (Tom Flayler) Smith; granddaughter, Kayla (Trevor) Monger; many great grandchildren; sisters, June Jackson & Dean (Raymond) Pipkin; sister-in-law, Judy Hoskins and many nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, please donate to SISCA or St. Jude's Children's Hospital in Bud's honor.


Visitation will be Thursday October 28, 2021 from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm with a service at 1:00 pm at Newcomer - Beavercreek Chapel (3380 Dayton-Xenia Rd., Beavercreek, Ohio 45432). Bud will be laid to rest next to his wife at Byron Cemetery following the service.
