Walter "Jack" Collins
1942 - 2021

Walter "Jack" Collins, age 78 of Dayton, Ohio, passed away Saturday, August 21, 2021 at Hospice of Dayton. He was born December 23, 1942 in Newhall, West Virginia the son to the late John and Ora Collins.

Jack was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Air Force. Jack retired from General Motors after 30 years and was a member of Mt. Olive Freewill Baptist Church. He loved to attend church, sing in the choir, bowling, fishing, and most of all his family, especially loving on his granddaughters. Jack will be dearly missed by all who loved and knew him.

In addition to his parents, Jack was preceded in death by his wife, Opal; several brothers and sisters.

Jack will be missed by his three daughters, Penny (Lori) Shurte, Nicole Collins and Jackie (Greg) Grigsby; two granddaughters, Lyndsey and Macy Grigsby; as well as brothers, sister, nieces, nephews and cousins.


Visitation will be held Wednesday, August 25, 2021 from 5-7 p.m. at Newcomer Beavercreek Chapel, 3380 Dayton-Xenia Rd., Beavercreek, where the funeral will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday. Burial Valley View Memorial Gardens. Family requests that you please wear a mask during all of the services.

Jack's family would like to thank the Hospice of Dayton for all of the care given to him. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Hospice of Dayton in Jack's memory.

Arrangements are being handled by Newcomer North Chapel, Dayton.
