Van Russell Patterson, age 67, passed away November 18, 2020 peacefully in his home in West Carrollton, Ohio surrounded by his wife and sons.

He was born March 1, 1953 in Flint, Michigan to the late Russell and Denise (Van Avery) Patterson. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Roger Patterson.

In 1980, Van married Janet (Compton), who survives. He is also survived by sons Scott Patterson and Jeffrey (Katie) Patterson, two granddaughters Hannah and Lydia Patterson, siblings Eugene (Ruth) Patterson, Roxanne (Brad) Wymer, Eric (Kathy) Patterson, sister-in-law Debra Patterson, and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Van enjoyed spending time with family, especially his granddaughters. He also enjoyed watching college football, and was a huge fan of Michigan State. His son Jeff is a big Ohio State fan, and they enjoyed some good-natured ribbing about the rivalry. Van frequently tried to teach his granddaughters the Michigan State fight song to no avail.

A memorial service will be planned for summer 2021 in Michigan. The family will notify loved ones in the future when the service is scheduled.
