So sad to hear of Russ passing..I loved him and Lorry. Thought about them often and all my dear friends at St. Leonards. I feel the struggle you've had during this pandemic. My heart goes out to you and your family.

How wonderful and comforting to read all the beautiful memories that so many have shared about my Dad. Dad touched so many lives with his kindness, generosity, graciousness, sense of humor, honesty, love and compassion. Dad chose to be a vessel for God to use to bless others and manifest the love of Jesus on this earth. Dad loved life and gave so sacrificially to everyone. Dad was a champion for the downtrodden and a defender of the innocent. Dad never quit and he was indeed a survivor. Dad was truly the best Daddy a girl could ever want. He was the greatest protector and provider of his loved ones and for all that needed his help. Dad, you made a positive impact on everyone you met and always made us smile. You live on in each of our hearts Dad. I miss you so terribly and my heart is broken. I love you, Carolyn

I was good friends with Russ's daughter, Carolyn, in grade school. I spent many nights at the Dean's home. I think of Mr. Dean when I make cheesy eggs. He made the best breakfast. I definitely enjoyed good food, then and now. I remember thinking how cool it was that Mr. Dean made food. My dad never did anything in the house that he deemed women's work. Mr. Dean not only cooked, he enjoyed it. I asked him what made his eggs so delicious once and he shared that he always added a little cheese. He even showed me how. I have many fond memories the kind, caring, and gentle Mr. Dean. He was also very handsome. He was a treasure.

I just head of my buddy Russell's passing and I am so saddened. My husband is a resident at St. Leonard's and I used to go every day and always stopped and visited my buddy Russell, each time. He was definitely my friend. I always talked to him, Lori & Way... they are all my friends. I will greatly miss his presence at St. Leonard's, once I can ever go back to visit my husband. Prayers for your family ?
(If anyone knows Waynett's info, I would love to get in contact w her)

He was always so appreciative that I would get it on the correct channel for him to watch ...

As we gathered together yesterday to say our final goodbyes through both tears and laughter, I realized once again what a wonderful man you are and what an amazing life you have lived. I thank God that through you, we have all received blessing upon blessing. Your love for your wife and your family is an inspiration and a challenge to follow in your footsteps of generosity, compassion and love. Although it is so hard to believe you are no longer here for us to see, we KNOW that you are alive forevermore in the glories of heaven, looking down and cheering us on to love deeply, be positive, and keep the faith - and longing for the day when you will be reunited with your beautiful wife and your entire family, for that is what you loved the most. See you soon Dad. You may want to stop by the “Pig” and pick up plenty of crumb cake, cookies and ice cream, cause you know we’ll be hungry when we get there. Can’t wait.

I remember Russ with great fondness. He and Lenora were one of the first couples to welcome my husband and me to our new church home at the Isle of Palms (SC) First Methodist Church. They both were so friendly and made us feel right at home. My sincere and heartfelt sympathy to his family.

Enjoyed being his assistant for many years teaching small children in Sunday School. He taught me how to move on to my on class. Russ was a great man and true Christian.
