Eckman, John, Joseph, “Spot”, passed away peacefully on May 14, 2020 due to complications from a rare blood infection. Born on July 8, 1965 to Joseph and Cora Eckman, John was the second youngest of six siblings. He was preceded in death by his brother Ed Eckman, Ed’s wife Jeana, his brother Matt Eckman, and his parents Joseph and Cora Eckman. John leaves behind his wife Shelley, his three sons Jack (14 years old), Sam (12 years old), and Ben (12 years old); sisters, Christina (husband Christopher) Young, Anne (daughter, Abigail) Eckman and brother Joseph “Bart” (children, Jessie and Kylie) Eckman; niece, Kelly (husband and children, James, Charlotte and Grant) Horton, Beverly Spires (Ed Eckman’s life-partner), Marina Eckman (Matt Eckman’s wife); Kimberly Maloy (sister in-law, husband Chris and their children C.J., Amanda, and Michael), Wes Fritts (brother in-law, wife Mardi and their children Alex, Hannah, and Nick); Leonard and Climia Fritts (father and mother in-law).

John graduated from Centerville High School, Ohio, 1983.

John was the owner and operator of Dixie Coins & Stamps located in Moraine, Ohio which is a family run business founded by his father in 1977.

John was kind hearted, loved to joke around, and had a quick sense of humor. He was a member of the Church of the Incarnation. John also enjoyed being a member of the Forty Club (bowling), The Moose Club, the Kettering Coin Club, and the Greene County Coin Club. John was a life-long St. Louis Cardinal Baseball fan.

A Visitation will be held Saturday, May 30, 2020, 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm, with a Memorial service following the Visitation at Newcomer Cremation, Funerals & Receptions, 820 Miamisburg-Centerville Road, Dayton, Ohio.
