Leopold Boehm
1933 - 2020

Boehm, Leopold “Leo”, 86 of Dayton passed away February 7, 2020 at Soin Medical Center. Leo was born in Limbach, Slovakia. Following WWII he and his family were relocated to Hilders, Germany and in 1952 immigrated to the United States. Leo was retired from the Dayton Manufacturing Company in 1996 where he had worked for many years. Leo never married or had any children but he was a devoted brother, brother-in-law and uncle. He loved to make things from copper bracelets, wind chimes and wood carvings to an aquarium. He liked to garden and had a definite “green thumb” with house plants. He loved fishing and being by the lake and loved to take photographs, spending many a Sunday driving around the city finding something interesting to photograph.

Leo was preceded in death by his parents Rosina and Michael Boehm Sr., his brother Michael Boehm Jr. and sister Martha Baumgart. He is survived by his sister Paula Mitterholzer, sister-in-law Paula Boehm, nieces and nephews: Linda [Paul] Coughlin, Dieter Baumgart, Diana Conway, Kathy [Brian] Musso, Karen Mitterholzer, Michael [Becky] Mitterholzer, Monika [Jim] Wilson, Jane [Mark] Moretto, Ava “Gitta” [Steve] Lewis, 21 great nieces and nephews and 20 great great nieces and nephews.

The family would like to express gratitude to nurses Allison, Jessica and all the staff who came in from Kettering Home Care and helped care for Leo the past couple of years who were wonderful to Leo, also to the staff at Soin Medical Center who cared for him, and to Hospice admission nurse Julie and Chaplain Ed Ellis who were with Leo and family on his last day.

Family will greet friends from 3-4 PM on Saturday, February 29,2020 at Newcomer Funeral Home in Beavercreek with service to follow.

In Lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Ohio’s Hospice of Dayton or the charity of your choice.
