In Memory Of
Edward Randall Browning
1948 - 2019

Edward Randall Browning, 71, a beloved husband and father, retired auditor and long time resident of Fairborn, Ohio, passed away on November 7, 2019 after a courageous battle with colorectal cancer.

Known to his family as Randy, he was born on August 12th, 1948 to Eddie Browning and Trilby Burkhart Browning Sanders in Harlan, Kentucky. After graduating from Belmont High School in 1966, he was drafted to Vietnam, where he served in Charlie Company 3/22 Infantry. He served a two year tour and returned to study accounting at Wright State University.

After graduation, he joined the General Accounting Office at Wright Patterson Air Force Base, kicking off a 30 year career in the federal government as an auditor.

In 1977 he met his wife of 39 years, Suwannee (“Sue”) and they wed in 1980 at Carillon Park, going on to have 2 children, Selena and Cameron Browning. The family opened a small Asian and Hispanic grocery store called Thai West in 1991 and eventually moved on and became the Dayton area’s first Thai restaurant, under the same name in Huber Heights in 1993. Randy never missed a single day of work in Thai West’s history and developed an amazing vegan ice cream based on coconut milk that was sold throughout the Miami Valley. He was regularly seen on his lunch break from Wright Patt helping out during the lunch rush or closing up in the evenings.

After retiring in 2004, Randy and Sue spent their time split between their home in Ohio and wintering in their home in Bangkok, Thailand. Randy was passionate about politics and was a progressive democrat. You could often find him canvasing and volunteering for the Greene County Democratic Party. His kind heart and incredible mind will be greatly missed.

Randy was predeceased by his father, Eddie Browning, and his mother, Trilby Burkhart Browning Sanders. He is survived by his wife, Sue, his children, Selena and Cameron Browning, both of Columbus, Ohio, his siblings Janet (John) Struve of Kettering, Ohio, Wade (Sheila) Browning of Miamisburg, Ohio, Dick (Sally) Cryderman of Coopersville, Michigan, sister in laws, Pulphon Carpenter of Huber Heights, Ohio and Cassandra (Richard) Daniels of Bainbridge Island, Washington, nieces, Ponsi (Russ) Swett of Huber Heights, Ohio and Jeerapa (Oliver) Wright of Kettering, Ohio, nephews Jacob (Sarah) Browning, John (Michelle) Struve, Ryan Struve, Benjamin Struve, niece, Lisa (Morgan) Browning, great nephews, Cody, Nachai, Vinit, Connor and Nolan and great nieces, Bianca, Jane and Ruby along with countless numbers of friends.
