Larry Ray Cook
1950 - 2019

Larry Ray Cook, age 68 of Franklin, passed away Thursday, August 15, 2019.

He was born November 30, 1950 in Dayton, Ohio to Irvin E. and Clara V. (Weidner) Cook. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brother Charles Cook.

He is survived by his wife of 45 years Hester (Kilburn) Cook, daughters Leslie (Brian) Rice, Leanne (Steven) Romer, and grandchildren Ciauna, Saray, Peart, and Noah. Brothers Gail (Sherry) Cook, Tom (Terry) Cook, sister Sharon Boudroua and many nieces and nephews.

Larry, a member of Hillcrest Baptist Church in Carlisle, was a 1969 graduate of Centerville High School, and retired from Chrysler Behr Thermal Products. He loved his family and friends, enjoyed food, local and professional sports, riding his Gold Wing motorcycle and convertible, taking trips, and relaxing in his recliner watching TV.

He was a member of X-2 Gold Wing Road Riders Association and participated for 25 years in the Wing Ding National Rally. He also raised money for pediatric brain tumors during the Ride for Kids annual event. He loved children, and became known as the “Candy Man” for passing out suckers and mints to all the kids each Sunday after church.

Larry never met a stranger, made people feel welcome in his presence, and was always willing to lend a hand including snow blowing a neighbor’s driveway shirtless in shorts with an unzipped coat and sandals. No doubt if there are Gold Wing motorcycles in Heaven his is the most tricked out with lights, noisemakers, flags, gadgets, and a cup holder for his stainless steel cup filled to the top.

He is terribly missed by his family and especially grandkids with fond memories of sitting with him in his recliner eating snacks, watching TV, playing on his tablet, and riding in his convertible to get a happy meal twice in one day.

We love you Larry, Dad and Papaw!

A Celebration of Larry's Life will be held on Saturday, September 14, 2019, from 1 pm - 4 pm at Pisanello's Pizza, 3rd Floor, 355 South Main Street, Franklin, Ohio 45005.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers, Memorial contributions be made in Larry's memory to Ohio's Hospice of Butler & Warren Counties, or to the Alzheimer's Association.
