Betty grew up in Dublin, GA and attended Shady Grove Baptist Church. With the encouragement of her sister, Judy Mitchell, Betty decided to relocate. At the age of 21, she moved to Dayton and welcomed her only child, Denise. Betty was fortunate to enjoy many career paths. One that brought fond memories to her was her time as a security guard. She worked security for local concerts for musicians including B.B. King, Smokey Robinson, and Tina Turner. Over the years, Betty transitioned into working as a housekeeper. During this period, she received numerous awards and certifications highlighting her strong work ethics and commitment towards her job. During her downtime, Betty enjoyed to travel, play card games, and was an avid soap opera fan. She was a loving mother and grandmother who will be remembered for her strength, perseverance, and joy for life.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, DeLois Brown
Betty will be missed by her loving daughter, Denise Jackson; granddaughter, Courtney Jackson; grandson, Corey Jackson; siblings, Judy Mitchell, Jim Henry (Jackie) Jackson and James Douglas Jackson, Jr.; a host of nieces, nephews and cousins; and dear friends.
Family will receive friends Saturday, June 15, 2019 from 11 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 12 p.m. at Fairview United Methodist Church, 828 W. Fairview Ave., Dayton, Ohio 45406, Rev. Barbara Wiechel, officiating. Burial to follow at Woodland Cemetery, Dayton, Ohio. A repast will be held at the church immediately following the burial.
