Ali K. Reiter, age 42 of Fairborn, OH, passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 16, 2019 at Hospice of Dayton. She was born September 9, 1976 in Oak Lawn, Illinois to Bruce and Gail (McGuire) Nelson.

Ali was a wonderful daughter, a loving mother, hysterically funny, and a joy to be around. She graduated from Plainfield Illinois High School in 1994, graduated with a Bachelor's Degree with honors from North Central College in Naperville, Illinois in 1998 and with her PhD in Physiology from Penn State College of Medicine in 2004. Ali worked as a Human Performance Research Scientist at Wright State Research Institute. She received the Young Investigator Travel Award from the Endocrinology and Metabolism Section of the American Physiological Society in 2004, the Outstanding Poster Award from the American Society for Nutritional Science in 2004, NIH Training Grant Fellowship 2000 to 2004, North Central Outstanding Biochemistry Student in 1998 and the North Central College Richter Fellowship in 1997. Ali played volleyball, basketball, softball in high school and soccer in college. She was an avid runner participating in many marathons and half marathons. Ali coached youth sports in the Fairborn and Enon area. She loved her family dearly and will be greatly missed by all.

Ali is survived by her parents Bruce and Gail; three children, Caitlin, Chloe and Abigail Reiter; two brothers, Eric (Lauren) Nelson and Mark (Allison) Nelson; a sister, Christi Nelson; three nephews, Drew, Caleb and Zachary Nelson; dear friends, Tonya Thomason and Jill Small; and other numerous family and friends.

A Memorial Service will be held at a later date at the convenience of the family.

Ali was an eye and tissue donor, and generously donated of herself to better the quality of life for so many people.
