In Memory Of
Roger Blanton
1939 - 2018

Roger Blanton passed away Monday, January 15th 2018, at his residence. He was preceded in death by his parents and 12 siblings. He was survived by his loving wife Viola, daughter Trish (Greg), granddaughters Tiffany, Angela, great-grandchildren Makayla, Jade, Nadia, and Damien.

“…He who sows bountifully will also reap bountifully.” (II Corinthians 9:6)

Roger not only understood this Bible verse, but implemented it in his life with the generous heart of a man who truly cared. Every year, he planted a vegetable garden, which he took great pride and time in tending to it, watering it, and removing weeds so that they did not stifle the growth of his plants. As the vegetables came into season, he delighted in sharing with family and neighbors. Just like with his garden, he worked hard on his personal relationships too, for he delighted even more in their growth.

“No person was ever honored for what he received. Honor has been the reward
for what he gave.” (Calvin Coolidge)

Roger had a knack for filling in the gap of an empty role, not with words, but with actions. In doing this, he became a man of many titles…His reward was the opportunity to be a second father to his nephews, a “pappaw” to every child, and a handyman/mechanic for family and neighbors.

Roger enjoyed company, especially when the weather was nice and they could sit outside on the front porch. He always wanted to know what was going on with his family, and was quick to offer help when it was needed. He felt rewarded when his help was accepted. He kept popsicles and treats on Viola’s shopping list for all of his grandchildren, and was pleased to see their smiles as they received them.

A Life Well Lived

Roger was a proud and loyal employee of the Dupps Company where he retired after 31 years of service. He worked as a boiler operator and welder with the Field Service Department. He enjoyed his international travels for work and his advice was sought after by his co-workers.

He lived his life sowing seeds of love, some he saw grow here, and some he will watch grow from heaven. He indulged in the simple pleasures of life, worked hard, and had a deep love for his family. He found it a blessing to help others without drawing attention to himself. He felt that something of true value was best seen in its most simplistic form. He imparted these qualities to his family and friends which will keep his memory alive.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, January 27, 2018 at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions - Beavercreek Chapel, 3380 Dayton-Xenia Rd., Beavercreek, Ohio 45432.
