Carol Elaine (Burnett) Purvis, age 78, of Fairborn, Ohio, passed away on Thursday, May 25, 2017 at Grandview Hospital following a sudden illness. She was born February 2, 1939 in Decorah, Iowa, the daughter of the late (Aaron) Monroe and Martha (Hanson) Sheetz, who precede her in death.

Carol was a 1960 graduate of the Miami Valley School of Nursing and employed by MVH for over 20 years. While working full-time and taking care of a large family she enrolled at Wright Stated University and earned a B.A. in English.

She leaves behind her beloved husband of 26 years, Howard Purvis, as well as the progeny of their combined families: daughter, Laurie (Burnett) Brown; sons, Kevin (Vicki) Burnett, Scott (Laura) Burnett, Brian Burnett, and Kyle (Jill) Burnett, as well as daughter, Janet (Bart) Schwieterman and sons, Jim (Ginny) Purvis and Jeff (Deanna) Purvis, and daughter-in-law Barb (Reichel) Burnett. Carol was also blessed with many grandchildren: granddaughters Heather Brown (Scott Adams), Brittney Burnett, Carly Burnett, Kaitlyn (Lucas) Hampton and Tory Purvis; grandsons, Aaron (Autumn) Brown, Cory Burnett, Austin Burnett, Brandon Burnett, Alex Purvis, TJ (Emily) Schwieterman, Andrew Schwieterman, and Chris Schwieterman; great-granddaughters, Payton and Paisley Brown, and great-grandson Maddox Hampton. Carol is also survived by her sister Jan (Bill) Warren of Naperville, IL and numerous other family members and friends.

A Gathering of Family & Friends will be held on Friday, June 2, 2017 from 5-8 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home - North Chapel, 4104 Needmore Rd., Dayton, OH 45424.
