James "Tucker" Thomas Tellis, Jr., age 68, of Huber Heights, passed away on August 1, 2020, at his residence surrounded by his loving family. He went to join the love of his life, Janet Kay. He was born in Charleston, West Virginia on September 20, 1951, the son of the late James and Dora Ann Tellis.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Janet Kay Tellis; siblings, Linda Tellis and Michael Tellis; and brother-in-law, Bruce Arnold .

James is survived by his children, Christina Tellis, Naomi (Seantino Walden)Tellis, Jennifer (Gerrett) Tellis-Brady, Jami (Bahiy Shabazz) Tellis, Linda (Angelita Aguilar) Tellis-Aguilar, June Tellis, and James Tellis, III; grandchildren, Toni Tellis, Christina K. Tellis, Emiliana Aguilar, Tahje Tellis, Demarco Tellis, Danielle Davidson, Akiylah Shabazz, Israel Tellis, Jaron Tellis, Ceyleon Tellis, Deshawn Davidson, Little Seantino Walden, Ishmael Tellis, Dayon Davidson, Isaiah Tellis, Mykayla Houston, Jerrica Pannell, Aaniyah Mapp, Emmanuel Tellis, Little Gerrett Brady, Mya Kay Houston, Elizabeth Sizemore, Lamar Bonner (Juniors), Akim Shabazz and Zadarian James Tellis; great grandchildren, Jeremiah, Noah, Josiah, Lavaeha, William, Illieon, Kendrick, Kenton, Israel, Jr. and Baby Ceyleon; siblings, Kimberly Tellis-Arnold, Patricia Tellis, Jeffrey Tellis and Denise (Norwood) Gwynne; and many other loving family members and friends.

He spent most of his time doing what he loved, which was his artwork. James also loved music and was a poet. He was a "Dad" to everyone he met, affectionately known as "Pops" and "Big Daddy James". James had an infectious personality and always had a smile on his face. He loved to dance, sing and would light up any room he entered. He will be dearly missed by everyone who knew him.

Visitation will be held on Friday, August 7, 2020, from 1:00 pm- 2:00 pm at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4104 Needmore Rd., Dayton, where services will begin at 2:00 pm, with Bobby Howard officiating.
