Betty Elam
1926 - 2014

Betty M. Elam, age 87, of Dayton Ohio passed just after midnight Sunday after a brave and determined struggle with cancer.

Betty was a kind, loving mom, sister, grandmother and friend who never had a bad word to say about anyone and only saw the good in them. She retired from Esther Price Candies and previously worked for Maude Mueller Candies so her sweet demeanor was always a given. She was born, raised and lived her entire life in Dayton and shared her knowledge of the area with love. She proudly attended Roosevelt High School. She raised 3 kids on her own and was a loving, kind mother. She will be missed every day by anyone who knew her. Any goodness in us came from her.

She was preceded in death by her father and mother, Ernest and Zylpha Hogan, brother, Ernie Hogan and the love of her life, James 'Elmer' Elam. She is survived by her daughter Linda (Jack), son Jimmie (Rosa), daughter Sue, sister, Edna Polen, grandchildren Holly and Jesse, 6 other grandchildren. (She even made great, great, great grandma status) and longtime friend Irene.

Services are 12pm Friday at Woodland Cemetery Chapel with burial following in Woodland Cemetery.

Thanks to Hospice of Dayton for their home care nurses Ashley and Jan.

Donations may be made to Homefull, Non-profit services to the Homeless, 1133 S. Edwin C. Moses Blvd., Suite 306, Dayton, OH 45417 or to the Dayton Food Bank, 56 Armor Place, Dayton, OH 45417.

(I'll miss you, Mama)
