She is preceded in death by her parents, Glenn J and Mary (Robbins) Deeter; her husband, James Dunkman; infant daughter, Carla Grashel; infant granddaughter, Corinne Hetsler; grandchildren, Stephanie Dunkman, and Casey Dunkman.
Marilyn is survived by her daughter, Sherry (Steve) Groves; her bonus sons, Mark (Sherry) Dunkman, and Bryan (Donna) Dunkman; her sister, Carol Duckro; grandchildren, Erin (Hubert) Jayakumar, Lee (Lindsey) Hetsler, Kayla (Luke) Price, Krista (Todd) Overman, and Joe Massie; her great-grandchildren, Samuel Jayakumar, Silas Jayakumar, Fletcher Hetsler, Evan Price, Allie Price, Brooke Lane, and Avery Massie; and many nieces and nephews.
Marilyn was a member of the Chester (SC) First Church of the Nazarene. She was always very involved in any church she attended. One of her Spiritual Gifts was the gift of Compassion, and she was known to be a mighty Prayer Warrior.
Marilyn was gifted with a beautiful voice. As a child, she sang on the radio for the Sunday broadcast from the Dayton Christian Tabernacle. As an adult, she sang in a trio from the Dayton Gospel Temple.
Marilyn loved to bake and especially loved to share her baked goods with people in the community. She was particularly well known for her coffee cakes, and her chocolate chip cookies.
Everyone who knew Marilyn always mentioned how very sweet she is. She always had a smile on her face…and usually a song in her heart.
A memorial service will be held July 23, 2022, at 2:00pm, followed by a visitation from 3:00pm to 4:00pm at Newcomer North Chapel, 4104 Needmore Road, Dayton. To share a memory of Marilyn, or leave a special message for her family, please click the Share Memories button above.
