Melanie Michele Black, aka GiGi, age 64, of Englewood, transitioned on May 13, 2022. She was born on July 5, 1957 to Darnell Whatley and Margaret Black. She was best known for her personal style and her out-spoken nature. She enjoyed funk music (The Parliament Funkadelic and Prince) and dancing. She also liked coloring and cooking new things.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Margaret Black and Darnell Whatley; her husband, Ken Nietzel; her brother, Richard; her great-granddaughter, I'Breayr Black; and her niece, LaTisha Samuels.

She will be remembered by her daughter, Regina Black; her grandchildren: LaToya, Charae, Monique, Brittanie, Nichaela, and Septemberlyn Dorsey; and she cherished her relationship with her only grandson DeMarquis Black;two sisters: Linda Fakinlede and Anita Samuels; special friend, Gladys Zachary; and a host of great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends.

Family and Friends are welcome to gather for a Celebration of life from 11:00am to 12:00pm on Saturday, June 4, 2022 at Newcomer North Chapel, 4104 Needmore Road, Dayton, where the Memorial Service will begin at 12:00pm.
